Facilities Available at FMC

The main college building is housed in a four storey purposed-built building with about 50,000 square feet of constructed area. This building accommodates the basic medical sciences departments and more space is available for future expansion. In addition, there is another single storey building of labour 5000 square feet. In this second building the Community Medicine department has been established, which also includes a Community Health Center for convenience of patients and other persons from the Community coming from surrounding villages and at the same time providing opportunities to clinical students to see and solve their problems in rural settings.

Lecture Hall
There are five lecture halls, two furnished with fixed benches and three with table and chairs, with accommodation for well over 100 students in each hall. Adequate audio-visual aids like multimedia projectors, overhead projectors and epidiascopes are provided in the lecture halls.

Basic Sciences Practical Laboratories
There are eight Basic Sciences Laboratories, with all necessary equipment, chemicals, instruments and furniture, Each laboratory accommodates abour 50 students at one time. Each laboratory has a preparation room and stores for equipment and chemicals. Trained technicians maintain these laboratories and assist students in performance of their practical and research work.

Demonstration Rooms
Six Demonstration Rooms, furnished with tabletchairs and plastic boards for writing are available. Slide projectors and overhead projectors are also provided in these rooms. These demonstration rooms are also utilized for small groups teaching.

Museums
Museums are spacious, well furnished and provided with facilities for the students to study. Large collection of specimen and models. The main museum has mainly Pathology and Anatomy models and specimen whereas Pharmacology, Community Medical and Forensic Medicine departments have established their departmental museums within their own departments.

Dissection Hall
There is a spacious dissection hall in Anatomy Dept. Sufficient numbers of cadavers, prosecuted parts and bones available. Cadavers under close supervision of demonstrators are stored in cold room and mortuary refrigerators.

Library
It is in a large purpose built hall. About 9000 books on medical and allied subjects are available and more are being added. There is a large students study area, where at a time 50 students can sit and study reference material in the library. A separate enclave is provided for the teaching staff. Library provision includes books, latest journals, audiovisual materials and computer based information services.

Video Library
The college has video library. it has a 29 inch T.V with VCR and over 68 medical video-cassettes mostly on basic medical sciences. A teacher is always available to explain & answer the queries of the students. This library has also a large number of audio cassettes containing lecture material on important topics.

Auditorium
There is a large Auditorium, which accommodates 500 persons. It is used for examinations and major functions of the college like debates and dramas, etc. Facilities for gymnasium and badminton are also provided in it.

Computer laboratory
Computer Lab has 29 computers for students. It is equipped with Pentium -III and Pentium IV computers. These computers are used for teaching and training of students. In Anatomy and Physiology and other subjects over 200 medical programmes on CDs are available at the moment. These are increased with time and according to needs. training in computer assisted learning is compulsory for all students. This access to information sources through internet enables students to benefit from World Wide Web in the vast field of Medicine.

Internet Facilities
The computer laboratory has the facility of internet and e-mail. Students and teachers can have easy access to websites related to their subjects. Internet facility offers online approach to international medical journals, medical education and advisory facility to students and teachers. Through this facility, students can even publish their own web-pages/thesis to be accessed anywher in world.

Research Laboratories
Research Laboratories for the college teaching staff have also been provided.

Medical Education Department
It has been established to develop, implement, monitor and regulate the curriculum as per local, international, and PMDC requirements. Regular curriculum reviews are also undertaken.

Seminar Rooms
Two Seminar Rooms, each accommodating over 60 persons, furnished with easy chairs are also available and are also used for clinico-pathlogical conferences and video presentations etc.

Staff Tea Room
There is a staff Tea Room, with a beautiful view where the staff can relax and have interaction over a cup of Tea.

Audio Visual and Photography Section
Incharge of this section takes photographs of academic interest for the college and looks after the maintenance of audio-visual equipment, which includes multimedia projectors, slide projectors, overhead projectors, film projectors, epidiascopes VCP and VCR etc.

Cafeteria
A cafeteria is available for students of the college. It is well stocked with essential items. In addition to soft drinks it can also provide snacks and meals if desired. Cafetria is surrounded by beautiful lawns for students to relax in between their scheduled classes.

Book Shop
A book shop is on the premises. It stocks all necessary medical books and stationery. It has also photo-copying facilities for students.

Medical & General Store
For convenience of students and other staff medical and general stores are present at the college premises. Items of daily use and essential drugs and medicines are available.

PCOs
Two PCOs are available on the premises, one in the college and the second one near the college cafeteria. Fax service is also available.

New Buildings
Construction of new buildings for Pharmacology and Community Medicine departments and for establishment etc. is in progress.
