Frontier Medical College is a self-financing no profit no loss institution sponsored by Al-Jamil Trust in the private sector. A Board of Governors administers it. The members of the Board include high govt. officials, leading members of the medical profession, representatives of the sponsors, elected public representatives and distinguished citizens.

Prof. Dr. A. J. Khan is the Founding Principal. He is the former Principal of the Government Bolan College, Quetta and the Founding Principal of Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad. He has been Head of the Department of Medicine at the above two medical colleges. He is a member of the PMDC (the statutory body of Govt. of Pakistan which controls medical education in the country) and has also remained its President.
Dr. Khan had been the Director General of Health, Govt. of Pakistan, a position which controls the health policy matters in the country. He has represented Pakistan at many international forums, which includes participation in the World Health Assembly of United Nations as leader of the Pakistan delegation. He has also been Vice-president of the EMRO (Eastern Mediellerranean, Region) Regional Committee of WHO.He has many research publications to his credit some of which have been published in renowned international medical journals.
He had been a member of the Board of Governors of many medical institutions, some of which are:

He has been the President of PMDC, Pakistan Homeopathic Medical Council, Pakistan Nursing Council, Pakistan Pharmacy Council and many other organizations.
He has served as Federal minister for population welfare Govt. of Pakistan , Islamabad.
For his meritorious services in the field of health and medical education the President of Pakistan has awarded him with the highest civil award to a government servant, SITARA-E-IMTIAZ (star of distinction).
He is a member of the Advisory Committee of Health Govt. of Pakistan.
He is also a member of the Hospital and Health System Monitoring Committee of the Govt. of Pakistan.
He is also a member of NWFP provincial Task Force of Health.
He is Dean of Faculity Health Sciences of Bahria University, Islamabad

Prof. Dr. M. A. Khaliq MBBS, DCP, MRCPath, FRCPath, a renowned hematologist and the former Principal and Head of the Department of Pathology of Ayub Medical College is the Vice-Dean. The Vice-Dean has been a Director of Pakistan Medical Research Council. He has many research publications to his credit. He is the Head of the Department of Pathology, and is also Incharge of the Medical Research Centre and Chairman of Postgraduate Medical Education Committee of the college. He has also remained member of PMDC.

The College Academic Council consists of the heads of departments and all professors. The Principal is the chairman of the Council. The Council determines the requirements of medical education according to PMDC and the University policies.
• It develops ways and means for maintenance of good discipline in the college through the College Disciplinary Committee and deals with individual cases of indiscipline.
• It discusses and determines the ways and means to improve the standard of medical education and facilities needed to achieve this objective through the Medical Education Department.
• It lays down policy regarding awards, scholarships, education policy including curriculum and syllabi for the students, distribution of duties of the teaching staff, college sessions, examinations, vacation etc., and other related matters, and schedule for examination.
• It assists in development and progress of the college library and museum.
