Frontier Medical College has developed collaboration with a very important medical institution of China “Xinjiang medical university”.
Xinjiang Medical University is situated in Urumqi the capital of Xinjiang Autonomous region of China. This area of China borders Pakistan and is connected by a direct good metal road. There is a direct air link from Islamabad to Urumqi and Kashghar the nearest border town of China to Pakistan.
Xinjiang Medical University is the largest institution of learning in this area. It is spread over an area of about 100 acres. The constructed area of the University is over 3 million ( 30 lakh ) square feet.
In 2010 University had 13100 students, 5405 teachers including 1163 professors and assistant professors and 4290 other staff. There are 4951 students doing postgraduation, 61 of them doing Ph.D.
The University has its own 8 medical and allied colleges; The Medical College, The Public Health College, The Traditional Medicine College, Basic Medical Sciences College, The Pharmacy College, The Nurses Training College, Continuing Education College and The Vocational College.
There are 6 teaching hospitals with 5010 beds. The Dept. of Traditional Medicine has five affiliated Traditional Chinese Medical Hospitals.
There are also six regional level research institutes and twenty other research institutes at the district level.
In addition all medical institutions in the region (area about 700,000 sq Km almost equal to Pakistan) are affiliated to this University. In all Xinjiang Medical University has 40 clinical teaching bases throughout the region. During the last 50 years The University has trained over 30,000 doctors and health care personnel.
In the last 50 years, the University has been in close step with advancing scientific developments throughout the world. It is in collaboration with many international Universities like The Harvard, Cambridge and Heidelberg. The consistent focus of The University has been the close relationship between the teaching of medicine and practice of medicine. The highest goal of the University is to raise the health and reduce the suffering of patients, and to raise the teaching quality and the level of medical practice.
Facing the challenges of the 21st century, The Medical University is continually involved in achieving high levels of education according to the health rules set out by the government. The University’s major focus is the training of medical staff, but is also involved in developing research and cultivating various practical medical experts and developing national and international exchanges. The Xinjiang Medical University continues to bring its medical standards to the highest level to benefit the people of Xinjiang and improve the health of all human beings.
In collaboration, our two institutions, Frontier Medical College and Xinjiang Medical University exchange the medical teachers, medical students, cooperate in research and the most important part is that Xinjiang Medical University will establish a “Chinese Traditional Medical Centre” at Frontier Medical College, which will not only train the Pakistani doctors, it will also provide the latest Chinese Traditional & Herbal Medicine to the people of Pakistan. This will be the first centre of its kind in Pakistan. |
